To forge a signature successfully, it is necessary to reproduce the appearance of the signature and to do so with a smooth, continuous motion. To accomplish both of these tasks is nearly impossible. Consider the two most common methods of forging a signature: First is to look closely at it and attempt to re-create it carefully, moving slowly to follow the lines as closely as possible. This method is called drawing because, in effect, that is what the forger is doing.
